[:en]The Communications and Computer Networks Competence Centre has experience in design, analysis, measurement and research in the area of wireless communication systems. This includes 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile networks, as well as Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) communication systems (i.a. trunking systems/TETRA). The competence centre has gained expertise in wireless system design and simulation of physical and data link layer (channel coding, modulation, equalization and channel estimation, multiplexing, HARQ, MAC), and in radio resource management in access networks (WiMAX, UMTS, packet networks). The Communications and Computer Networks Competence Centre is also interested in the R&D on 5G, especially on algorithms for Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) in the radio interface, admission control procedures and governance strategies for allocation of resources in the context of QoS (Quality of Service), adaptive allocation of computing resources in the MEC (Mobile Edge Computing) layer for NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) components, evaluation of E2E (End-to-End), QoE (Quality of Experience), and MOS (Mean Opinion Score) in video streams, and security aspects, in particular, ADS (Anomaly Detection System) against different types of attacks.[:]
